International health experts will be at the XV Congress of Hospitals and Clinics

Bogotá DC, June 2024. The International Health Fair, Meditech, organized by the Colombian Association of Hospitals and Clinics (ACHC), Messe Düsseldorf North America and the International Business and Exhibition Center, Corferias, will have the participation of 17 countries and more than 100 international exhibitors this year, who will present the latest innovations and advances in science, technology and products related to the health sector.
The 15th International Congress of Hospitals and Clinics will be held within the framework of the fair on July 10 and 11. The event will feature the participation of leading experts in the field of medicine and health from around the world. The topics to be addressed will include the main challenges facing the health sector globally, as well as the trends and innovative solutions that are emerging to address these challenges.

Carlos Álvarez, advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO), will give the talk, “What will be the next health pandemic? Are we prepared?” which will focus on preparation for future public health pandemics. The expert epidemiologist will analyze possible scenarios for new outbreaks and emerging diseases that could become the next global pandemic. Based on his extensive experience, Álvarez will examine the lessons learned from COVID-19, assessing whether health systems and governments are currently better equipped to prevent, detect and respond effectively to future large-scale health crises. The talk will be on July 10 at 3:15 pm in the Corferias auditorium.
Munir Jalil, executive director and chief economist for the Andean Region of BTG Pactual, will give the talk “Economic and financial perspectives of the health sector, a necessary analysis for decision-making.” This meeting will focus on examining the economic and financial perspectives that the health sector faces today. The talk will offer a valuable perspective on how these economic and financial dynamics should inform strategic decision-making in the sector, with a view to ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of health systems. The talk will be on July 10 at 11:15 am in the Corferias auditorium.
Anwer Kham, global leading expert in healthcare technology at KPMG, will give the talk: "Responsible Execution of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare." The expert will discuss how AI can improve diagnoses, optimize workflows, and develop personalized therapies, while managing ethical, security, and privacy risks. The talk will cover topics such as transparency, data bias, and AI governance in clinical and administrative settings. Attendees will receive ideas and recommendations for adopting AI solutions in an ethical and safe manner, respecting patients. The talk will be on July 11 at 8:30 am in the Corferias auditorium.
Another talk on the Congress program will be on the topic: “Sustainability and Climate Change: What should the health sector do?” Marco Saavedra Bravo, an expert in continuous improvement and sustainability, will share his extensive experience working with hospitals and organizations internationally. The talk will examine how health institutions can reduce their environmental footprint, from optimizing resource use and waste management, to implementing greener practices in areas such as transportation, food, and buildings. Strategies for health systems to become more resilient to the impacts of climate change will also be analyzed. The talk will be on July 11 at 2:00 pm in the Corferias auditorium.
Otros invitados internacionales destacados que participarán en el congreso serán Vidal Seegovin, vicepresidente de Crecimiento y Operaciones de Advisory Board, quien hablará sobre la relación entre innovación y accesibilidad en la atención sanitaria. Asimismo, Jorge Valdez, representante de la Alianza de Centros Académicos de Salud Internacional (AAHCI) y ex decano de la Facultad de Medicina del Tecnológico de Monterrey, ofrecerá la charla titulada "La formación, la escasez y el agotamiento del talento humano en salud: los retos de la alta gerencia de las instituciones prestadoras de servicios de salud (IPS)".
